Speaking Science to Power with The Planetary Society: Shaping the future of space science at NASA and JPL

In August, JPLers and Caltech workers came together with The Planetary Society to discuss how workers can advocate for the science and space exploration we believe in. We heard how a movement of scientists and research workers came together to urge Congress to reject massive cuts to NASA’s science budget in 2026, and how we can continue to organize and advocate for space science funding.

One thing is clear: Decisions about the future of science don’t happen in a vacuum. They are shaped by who has a voice and who is organized to make their voice heard. Between the FY27 NASA budget and the Prime Contract competition, JPL is facing a pivotal moment, and we should have a say in what comes next.
